[ARCHIVED] Carroll County Recycled

Bike Program

Carroll County Corrections is the first jail in New Hampshire to offer Project Bike Tech (PBT) and is the company’s first, nationwide, to address all four of these issues within the corrections system. Project Bike Tech is a nationwide recognized Bicycle Technician Certification Program that is being offered by Carroll County Adult Education (CCAE) at the County Annex for the Carroll County Corrections population. PBT trains inmates that will soon be returning citizens, to become certified bicycle technicians so they can become employed upon release. The class consists of learning many skills which include being able to build a bicycle from the ground up, resume aid, and soft job skills. Participants are not only learning how to build bicycles but also repairing/servicing donated bicycles from Tri-County Cap’s program, Carroll County Recycled (CC Recycled). Donated bikes from CC Recycled are fixed and/or serviced by the inmates, put back into the community and to the jail for inmates that do not have a means of transportation upon release. The PBT program has had a 100% completion rate and employment rate upon release. Every person in the program also gets to take a bike home of their choice that they have personally repaired. PBT is a full circle program; means of transportation, education, job skills, employment, and community engagement.
